Libreville, Tuesday, May 9, 2023 (Gabon Info) – The work of the 11e Ministerial Commission of this level of education have been held since yesterday in Libreville under the chairmanship of the Minister of National Education, Carmelia Ntoutoume Leclercq.

Opened yesterday in Libreville in the name of the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Alain Claude Bilie-By-Nze, by the Minister of State, Minister of Industrial Development and Small and Medium Industries, Blaise Louembe, the work of the 11e Ministerial Commission for Private Education will close tomorrow Wednesday. This edition placed under the chairmanship of the Minister of National Education, Carmelia Ntoutoume Leclercq, aims to examine the legal and administrative situations of the files of promoters of private education establishments who seek authorization to found and open a pre-primary, primary, general and technical secondary establishment.

Placed under the theme: “A quality private school at the service of the transformation of education”, this 11th Ministerial Commission also intends to raise the qualitative indicators of private education. This in order to converge with the vision of the Head of State, Ali Bongo Ondimba, who makes the transformation of education a major objective for the social and economic development of Gabon.

At the opening of the works yesterday, the Minister of State invited the commissioners to reflect strongly on the conditions of a quality private school which would be at the service of the transformation of the Gabonese education system. “Private education must imperatively comply with the standards allowing our education system to remain competitive, to be very efficient on an international scale”, underlined Blaise Louembe.

This year, statistics show that private education in Gabon has 1,938 schools, ie 497 in pre-primary, 1,191 in primary, 241 in general secondary and 9 in technical and vocational secondary. All of which explains the interest shown by the authorities of the Ministry of National Education led by Carmelia Ntoutoume Leclercq, who pays particular attention to the proper functioning of these establishments, both administratively and legally. “The results of the work of the 11th Ministerial Commission should inevitably lead us to improve, strengthen and secure private education,” she said.

Organized with the help of teachers, in accordance with Law No. 21/84 of December 29, 19840 setting the rules applicable to private education, this work concerns the examination of 609 applications for authorization to found, compared to 272 in 2020. They also concern 245 requests for authorization to open and 6 requests for recognition of public utility. The Carmelia Ntoutoume Commission returns its copy this Wednesday, May 10, 2023.
