Gabon Media Time colleagues are free

Libreville, Thursday October 5, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – The four journalists from this Gabonese online media regained their freedom during the night after several hours spent at the Directorate General of Research.

After several hours in police custody at the General Directorate of Research (DGR), the publishing director of Gabon Media Time and his three journalists were finally released during the night. Harold Leckat and his collaborators Leonel Mbeng Essone, Esther Kengue and Karl Maure responded to a summons after publishing an audio in which the voice is said to be that of André Patrick Roponat, public prosecutor of Libreville.

In this element recorded during the search carried out at the home of Ian Ghislain Ngoulou, former chief of staff of Noureddin Bongo, we can hear: “put this in the envelope, you are going to go and count at the office “. “An injunction which violates the rules inherent in the general conditions of seizures,” the online media was outraged.

In the images widely relayed on social networks, we can see trunks and canteens stuffed with banknotes. Gabon Media Time made a point of noting “that after seizure of cash, the total is supposed to be mentioned in a countersigned report. The compilation must be made at the place of seizure in the presence of the police.” According to the newspaper, this was not done.

Reliable sources affirm that the four journalists were released thanks to an intervention by the President of the Transition, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguéma, and the Minister of Communication, Laurence Ndong.
