Libreville, December 15, 2023 (AGP) – This five-kilometer long race, exclusively dedicated to women, opens the ball of events linked to the 9th edition of the Gabon Marathon, this Saturday, the organizers announced.
“The 9th edition of the Gabon Marathon will kick off this Saturday at 9:00 a.m. with the race called “La Gabonaise”, indicated this Friday, the manager in charge of the event’s communications commission, Waris Fatombi.
The one who also often acts as the speaker of the competition assured that “9,000 runners had already collected their bibs”.
Waris Fatombi also specified that the formats of the six races on the menu for this edition of the Gabon Marathon remained unchanged. With a Sunday morning which still promises to be quite competitive and sensational, thanks in particular to the presence, for several days on Gabonese soil, of professional athletes.
Not affected in the elite table, Marina Maganga, fourth in the final of “La Gabonaise” in 2022, nevertheless declared that she wanted to do better than in the last edition. “I plan to surpass myself this year,” she promised.
A speech which contrasts, however, with that of the runners of the national selection, who denounced, last Thursday, non-optimal preparation conditions.
