Libreville, November 14, 2023 (AGP) – The Ministry of the Interior and Security launched, Monday, a census operation of religious associations in Greater Libreville, (Libreville, Owendo, Akanda and Ntoum), indicates a press release received by the AGP,
“All the structures concerned are invited to withdraw, as soon as this press release is published, a census form from the General Directorate of Elections and Public Liberties (DGELP), at the Ministry of the Interior,” indicates the press release.
The composition of the file to be returned to the Ministry of the Interior must contain precisely 9 pieces. In particular the census form issued by the Ministry of the Interior; the name of the religious association; acronym ; the company acronym; full address ; the year of creation; the field of activity; the nature and reference of the receipt (final, provisional or without receipt); the annexed information (number and identity of preachers and training courses followed, RIB, and updated director office, logo, statutes and internal regulations, minutes of incorporation, lease contract or title deed.
According to this press release signed by the Minister to the President of the Transition in charge of the Interior and Security, Hermann Immongault, “religious associations which do not submit to this census will see their activities put on hold until regulation of their situation.
Teams will be deployed on the ground to verify all of this. This census aims to bring order to this sector given the proliferation of these religious organizations in the country.
This census welcomed by the populations comes in a context marked by the absence of the exact number of associations of a religious nature operating in the country.
