Libreville will no longer host the 27th African Reinsurance Forum, scheduled for October 7-11.
It was at the end of the annual general assembly of the Gabonese federation of insurance companies (Fegasa) on July 26 that the Gabonese authorities decided to decline the organization of this forum this year, to organize it in 2026. The reasons for this withdrawal not being given, sources nevertheless indicate that it was for fear of post-election tensions that this decision was taken. We learn through the Gabon Review site. Thus, the 27th African Reinsurance Forum of the AIO (the African Insurance Organization) will be held in Tunis, Tunisia, from September 30 to October 4, 2023.
The event will again be organized by the Federation of Tunisian Insurance Companies (FTUSA) four years after the 24th edition. Recall that reinsurance assumes various important roles in the economy. As an insurer of last resort, it provides primary insurers with the liquidity needed to compensate exceptionally serious claims. It pools the coverage of major risks, provides the necessary capacity and reduces the actuarial cost of coverage of serious risks.
It also guarantees the insurability of all risks and may be the promoter of guarantee innovation. the 26th edition was organized in Lomé, Togo, in October 2022.
