Libreville, Saturday September 2, 2023 (Gabon Info) – General Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, president of the Committee for the transition and restoration of institutions, decided this Saturday to resume traffic between Gabon and the rest of the world.
After a little over 72 hours of closure, the Gabonese borders were reopened this Saturday, September 2, 2023. Gabon was cut off from the rest of the world following a decision taken last Wednesday by the Committee for the Transition and the Restoration of Institutions (CTRI ) led by General Brice Oligui Nguema who had just overthrown Ali Bongo Ondimba. “Anxious to preserve respect for the rule of law, good relations with our neighbors and all the States of the world, and in order to promote the continuity of the State while demonstrating our firm will to honor our international commitments, the CTRI decides with immediate effect on the reopening of the land, sea and air borders”, announced this Saturday on state television antennas, Colonel Ulrich Manfoumbi Manfoumbi, spokesperson for the CTRI.
However, the curfew remains in effect across the country from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. “Travellers arriving in the Gabonese Republic or wishing to leave will be authorized to circulate on presentation of their travel document”, specifies the spokesperson of the CTRI.
