Gabon: 66,662 companies listed between 2021 and 2022 – AGP

Libreville, November 16, 2023 (AGP) – The Directorate General of Statistics (DGS), recently published the results of the General Business Census (RGE) for the period 2021-2022.

Carried out within the framework of the agreement signed between the Gabonese Government and the World Bank for the development of statistics, this census revealed that there were 66,662 companies across the national territory during the said period, including 43,544 established in the only Estuary province (65.3%).

In Haut Ogooué (G2) there are 4775 companies or 7.2%. Middle Ogooue (G3), 1716 companies or 2.6%. La Ngounié (G4), 2179 companies or 3.3%. Nyanga (G5) has 873 companies, or 1.3%. Ogooué Ivindo (G6), 1093 companies or 1.6%. Ogooué Lolo (G7), 1370 companies or 2.1%. Ogooué maritime (G8), 7172 or 10.8% and Woleu-Ntem 3941 active companies or 5.9%.

From the analysis carried out by the branch of activity, it appears that 64,279 of the 66,662 companies successfully identified (96.4%) declared their main activity. Thus, commercial activities are predominant for 25,507 companies, or 41.2%; as well as accommodation and catering activities in 16,818 companies, or 26.16%.

7717 companies, or 12.01%, are in other service activities, notably manufacturing activities for 5769 companies, or 8.97%, education activities for 951 companies, or 1.48%, financial activities and insurance for 522 companies, or 0.81%, according to the DGS.

This census, according to the DGS, made it possible to have a national directory of businesses and a sampling frame for future economic surveys.
