“Each of the nine provinces of the country will benefit from it, which will make it possible both to increase the availability of essential drugs and to significantly reduce their final cost for the populations, their packaging being carried out in the hospital setting.
The drugs concerned are those intended to treat the most common pathologies. These include antimalarials, antibiotics, electrolytes, anesthetics, analgesics, anticoagulants, antiseptics, anti-inflammatories, but also serums and vaccines.
This stock of medicines and health products will be supplemented during the second half of 2023 by a second wave of replenishment.
The initiative is part of the national strategy aimed at meeting the most essential health needs of populations throughout the country and ensuring equality in access to health care and products throughout the country. .
Wanted and initiated by the President of the Republic, His Excellency Ali Bongo Ondimba, this strategy aims to strengthen health capacities throughout the territory in order to ensure optimal speed and quality of care. Global, it covers all aspects of the health sector: medicines, construction and rehabilitation of hospitals and health centres, training of personnel in the hospital and outpatient sectors, up to the financial coverage of acts of care via the extension of health insurance through universal health coverage.
It is within the framework of this national strategy that medical missions focusing on general medicine will be launched next May in several localities of the country”.
