The Group of Seven (G7) nations’ Digital and Tech Ministers’ Meeting took place in Japan’s Takasaki City to deliberate on issues like the governance of artificial intelligence (AI) and secure digital infrastructure. With the rise in the use of AI chatbots, regulating AI usage has become vital. One of the objectives of the meeting was to promote technologies that can enhance cross-border data flow and a free and open internet. To strengthen the resilience of digital infrastructure, the meeting also aimed at promoting a plan for internet governance, tackling issues like disinformation and cyber attacks. Another key point of discussion was to establish an international framework for Data Free Flow with Trust (DFFT), aimed at promoting economic growth by ensuring that data flows are free and safe across borders. The meeting was attended by India, Indonesia, and Ukraine, the hosts of the Group of 20 major economies and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations meetings, indicating its global significance.
