G7, major industrialized countries, reach ‘historic agreement’ on 15% minimum tax for multinationals

The deal could give European countries more opportunities to tax US tech companies like Facebook and Amazon. The agreement reached by the seven countries in London paves the way for a broader agreement within the G20, possibly as early as next month.

The aim is to prevent multinationals from shifting their profits to lower their tax bills, to make those companies pay more in the countries where they operate, and to adapt the system to trade in data and information.
