After three days of talks, the finance ministers of the G7 countries proposed to increase support for Ukraine for 2023 and early 2024 to $44 billion.
“We call for an immediate end to Russia’s illegal war against Ukraine, which would remove one of the biggest uncertainties about the global economic outlook,” the ministers said in a statement.
Aid to Ukraine through early 2024 has been increased to $44 billion, according to the statement, allowing the International Monetary Fund to approve $15.6 billion in support over four years.
In addition, finance ministers and central bankers from the US, Britain, France, Germany, Italy, Canada and Japan agreed on positions on a wide range of issues – from banking sector problems to debt restructuring.
Recall, we reported that the G7 countries will discuss how to further strengthen the global financial system at a meeting of financial leaders.
