The problem is, the Brazilian President showed a different attitude Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Putin’s future security. Reported by Reuters, Sunday (10/9), the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant against Putin last March, accusing Putin of committing war crimes by illegally deporting hundreds of children from Ukraine.
Russia denies that Russian troops were involved in war crimes or forcibly taking Ukrainian children. The Kremlin insisted that Putin’s arrest warrant was ‘invalid’.
At the G20 Summit in India, Putin, who was not present, was represented by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. In India, the leaders of the G20 countries adopted a consensus declaration that did not condemn Russia for the war in Ukraine, but called on all countries not to use force to seize territory.
While the G20 was taking place in Delhi, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine had not yet ended. Casualties are still falling.
So what about Brazil next year? The President of Brazil, Lula, has guaranteed Putin’s security if he comes to his country at the 2024 G20 Summit.
