Mülheim an der Ruhr (ots)
On the evening of October 14, 2022, the control center of the Mülheim an der Ruhr fire brigade received a request for administrative assistance from the Mülheim police. They were looking for an older man who had left his place of residence during the day and had not returned. With the help of a police helicopter and several sniffer dogs, the search in the Ruhrinsel/water station area was intensified. The Mülheim an der Ruhr fire brigade was deployed with divers to support the search on and in the water. In addition, the rapid response team “Drone” was alerted. With the drone, both underwater and the embankment areas could be checked for people using a thermal imaging camera. The Broich volunteer fire brigade was alerted and on guard to illuminate the scene and ensure basic protection in the city. The fire brigade units were supported by the DLRG, which was on site with lifeguards and a boat. At the same time, a THW unit was on site. The THW searched the affected area of the Ruhr with an underwater drone and a sonar. No clues to the wanted person were found. The operation was therefore ended around 11:30 p.m. (SiS)
