Hamburg Altona-Nord, emergency with emergency doctor and technical rescue, December 22, 2022, 8:12 am, Paul-Nevermann-Platz
On Thursday morning at Paul-Nevermann-Platz in Hamburg Altona-Nord, a worker fell into an approximately four meter deep shaft after working on a power line and was no longer able to speak. A caller signaled the emergency by dialing 112.
The Rescue Control Center alerted a fire engine from the Altona Fire and Rescue Department, an ambulance and an emergency medical vehicle, as well as Special Task Force (SEG) High Altitude Rescue to the scene. A man had fallen down the shaft of a fast food restaurant’s grease pump system and sustained multiple, fatal injuries in the fall. The injured man was treated by paramedics and an emergency doctor from the Hamburg fire brigade.
Due to the difficult access to the well and the injured person, the rescue proved to be very complex. The worker could only be rescued from the shaft by the SEG Höhenrettung with the help of special rope technology. The man was then transported to a maximum care hospital, accompanied by an ambulance.
The deployment of the firefighters, present on site with 15 rescuers, lasted a total of an hour and a half.
