A storm and the associated heavy rain have been demanding the services of the Bremen Fire Department and the THW since 6 p.m. Within an hour, around 60 liters of rainwater fell on the city area. This corresponds to the average amount of rain in a normal month.

The main areas of operation are in the districts of Bremen-Woltmershausen, Bremen-Neustadt, Bremen-Kattenturm, Bremen-Walle, Bremen-Gröpelingen and Bremen-Oslebshausen. Over 90% of the operations concern flooded cellars and apartments.

By 9:00 p.m., 76 LHD missions had been completed. A further 69 LHD missions were being processed, with 237 missions still open. There have been no injuries to date. All available units of the volunteer fire brigades and the THW are on storm duty. The professional fire brigade units are ensuring basic protection in the city area.

All control stations in the fire and rescue control center were manned in order to be able to handle the high volume of emergency calls. However, there were delays in receiving emergency calls. The public was therefore asked via various media to only call 112 in urgent emergencies.

Particularly noteworthy are two resuscitations and a traffic accident with a trapped person, which were identified, processed and dispatched by the emergency response officers as particularly urgent cases among the countless storm emergency calls.

The volume of emergency services operations during the storm period has so far been manageable.
