FVD Cancels Election Night Party Due to Safety Concerns After Second Attack on Party Leader Thierry Baudet

FVD has permanently canceled the meeting where the party was to follow the results of the House of Representatives elections on Wednesday due to the safety of those present. Party leader Thierry Baudet was the target of an attack for the second time on Monday.

The party took the decision in consultation with security services and security guards, reports FVD. It was previously reported that the meeting would probably not take place, but that was not yet final. The party now concludes the campaign in a sports café in Amsterdam, without Baudet.

“We hope for your understanding – two serious attacks on the head plus all the threats have been enough for Thierry and his family for now,” FVD wrote in a statement.

Baudet was hit on the head with a beer bottle by an underage boy in Groningen on Monday. Despite the attack, Baudet announced at a press conference on Tuesday that he would continue with the election campaign.

Baudet was also attacked at the end of last month. Then a man hit the FVD leader’s head with an umbrella.
