FV Gemünden/Seifriedsburg – FV Thüngersheim 2:1 (1:1). – It took a few minutes for the non-relegation celebration to really pick up speed. Until the players of FV Gemünden/Seifriedsburg did »La Ola« and sang »Humbatätärä« with their supporters. Shortly before, right after referee Burkard Böhm had blown the whistle, some footballers from the team that won 2-1 (1-1) in the district league relegation game against FV Thüngersheim had simply slumped onto the lawn of the Karlstadt sports complex and had completely, completely breathed deeply. The relief of having managed to stay up in the district league after a difficult season was palpable for the kickers from Gemünden and Seifriedsburg.
“It was a very tough game,” admitted player coach Jens Fromm from FV Gemünden/Seifriedsburg. “In the end we were at the end of our strength.” His team, which had missed the direct relegation eight days earlier on the last district league matchday with a strangely bloodless performance at 0: 3 in Steinfeld, showed in front of almost 800 spectators in Karlstadt a different face than last.
Especially in the early stages of both halves, the kickers of the 13th district league Würzburg 2 did not demonstrate that they could play football, but that they could fight. And it was during these phases that the goals came: Artur Jurkin completed a pass from deep to make it 1-0 (16th), Robert Erfurt made it 2-1 (50th) that was ultimately decisive when he followed up after a shot across the crossbar and the Ball poked over the line.
“We didn’t talk about Steinfeld the week before, we talked the boys through,” reported Jens Fromm that the strategy was to put positive thinking in the foreground. The 37-year-old player-coach was on the pitch himself for the entire distance and caught numerous balls in his calm manner. In the upcoming district league season, his team will improve in terms of footballing quality, since Tim Strohmenger, a striker from the Bavarian league club TSV Großbardorf, is returning to his home club.
Fromm also received praise for his performance from Thüngersheim coach Berthold Göbel: “He knows how it’s done.” he summarized the game.
However, the kickers from the wine village still embarrassed their opponents a few times. Goalkeeper Marcel Jamil made a save from close range against Thüngersheim’s Kevin Mehler (22′), whose team-mates couldn’t get the ball over the line even after repositioning. And after a header from Tim Denk, Stefan Pfeuffer maneuvered the ball over the line to make it 1-1 (44′).
In general: The Thüngersheimers, who have grown much taller on average, always posed a danger with high balls, but in the second half their crosses sometimes lacked precision. Only once was it really dangerous when Kevin Mehler shot over the opponent’s goal from a short distance in the third minute of added time.
But shortly afterwards it was clear: FV Gemünden / Seifriedsburg will remain in the district league. Whether there is another chance for FV Thüngersheim in a second round of relegation depends on the results of the state league and district league relegation.
