While Blizzard doesn’t seem inclined to tell the world about the future of the Overwatch League, the way the team worded its end-of-season statement all seems to indicate that the Overwatch League as we know it won’t be returning in 2024. There may still be organized competitive Overwatch events, and some OWL teams appear to be exploring how to offer them.
A Boston Uprising has announced that it has released the majority of its roster, including; Kim “Bird Ring” Ji-hyuk, Shin “Karios” Woo-woo, Lee Jae-gong, Kim “IZaYaKI” Min-cheol, assistant coach Park “KariV” Young-seop, assistant general manager Han “Sup7eme” Seung-jun and player-manager Haeny “Hainy” Kim.
However, despite this, Uprising also stated: “We’re excited to build on the team’s performance last season, and as more details are learned about the 2024 Overwatch competitive season, we’ll build a roster that will take Uprising to the next level.
Uprising did say that it’s possible that some of the released players could come back and re-sign with the team.
