The municipal councilors of Figeac Autrement – Christine Delestre, Philippe Brouqui, Arnaud Lafragette and Philippe Landrein – point out in a press release the estimated cost of the future seat of Grand Figeac and fear a new “budgetary drift”.
“During the community council of September 9, 2017, the project for a new headquarters for the Grand Figeac teams was presented for the first time. This would be located in the former premises occupied by EDF in the Bataillé district. then advanced were: € 50,000 for the acquisition of the building with a surface area of 1,000 m2 and € 634,500 for work for an extension and total redevelopment of the site. amounted to € 684,500. A little more than three years later, this time we are told a works budget of € 2.582 million, an increase of + € 1.9 million. This has therefore been multiplied by four without valid explanation! We have already reached 2,800 € / m2. And nothing can assure us today that this amount will not yet increase. During the municipal campaign, we denounced this type of budgetary drift and non-control of costs. We even proposed that any overrun of + 10% of the quotes initials would involve consultation with residents to maintain or cancel the projects. At this price, wouldn’t the construction of a new building have been more opportune? Especially since as it was designed, this future headquarters will not even be able to accommodate the meetings of the community council, no room having the capacity!
We are not calling into question here the needs of the Grand Figeac or the need to regroup its staff on a single site. But our elected role, out of respect for the citizens we represent, is to show vigilance and good management with regard to public funds that do not belong to us. It is a shame to note that this vision does not seem to be shared by the majority, in view of the few reactions that the vote on this budget aroused on January 26th “.
As usual, the Figeac Autrement group has launched an online questionnaire on this issue. “It seems important to us that everyone can express themselves” underlines Philippe Landrein who wishes to point out that this questionnaire comprising four questions preserves the anonymity of those who will take “two minutes” to answer it.
