Future Electricity, because the presidency is in a storm

The Elettricità Futura meeting is scheduled today for the approval of the 2023 budget and the review of the 2024 budget

No resignation for the president of Elettricità Futura Agostino Re Rebaudengo during today’s assembly of the association for the approval of the 2023 budget and the review of the 2024 budget, after the analysis carried out by the general council of Elettricità Futura on 17 July on the financial statement schedule and report.

TODAY’S MEETING DECISIONS

The meeting ended but no particular decision was taken on the presidency of Elettricità Futura and the president Re Rebaudengo despite the “grumbles relating to the Ef-Servizi srl, controlled by the same association that is a member of Confindustria”, he writes Start Magazine.

CHANGING OF THE GUARD ALL BUT IMMINENT

But the changing of the guard at the top was far from imminent even on the eve of the assembly given that, according to rumors, at most the procedures for defining the new president would have been started. So much so that Rebaudengo himself asked a renowned law firm for an opinion on his possible revocation by the majority, according to what Energia Oltre has learned.

A “SOFT” PATH

In short, the path chosen was to avoid disruptions: no counting of votes to decide whether or not to revoke the president’s mandate, but a less traumatic Commission to designate the next president. Although, from what we learn, during the Assembly Rebaudengo expressed doubts about the impartiality of the 5 special arbitrators just appointed to start the selection procedure for the new candidates.

CONFINDUSTRIA’S CHANGE OF COURSE

Moreover, as La Repubblica wrote in recent days, the president “would have another two years of mandate” on his side. The flip side of the coin, however, is the change in the basic conditions for the presidency of an association representing Italian electricity companies, starting from the installation of the new president of Confindustria Emanuele Orsini (on whom at the time, Rebaudengo had also expressed his opinion positively, well before the election of the Confindustria summit), who changed course compared to his predecessor Bonomi by siding against the Green Deal and in favor of nuclear power.

ATTEMPTS TO INTEGRATE WITH OTHER ASSOCIATIONS ARE FAILURE

Reading between the lines of the report of the General Council of Elettricità Futura last February 20th, which Energia Oltre analysed, however, the reasons that would put the Re Rebaudengo presidency at risk appear to be other than a simple rift between the “renewableists” and the big names , an interpretation proposed in the past that today La Repubblica gives with names that would replace Rebaudengo. In a passage of the report it is quoted verbatim: “… the President, in recalling how the numerous and well-known attempts at integration with the other associations have not led to any concrete definition…”.

Therefore not an ideological clash between those who favor renewables and those who would like other decisions for the Italian energy future, as La Repubblica has written in several episodes, but the difficulties of a presidency that has failed to dialogue with other sector associations and with the institutions.
