In its report, the Agriculture Commission for the Future recommends that state funding for agriculture be geared towards goals for society as a whole. This includes improvements in the protection of biodiversity, in the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, in animal welfare and in the preservation of diverse landscape structures. Regional economic cycles, operational nutrient cycles and a general diversification of farms should contribute to making the agricultural and food system as a whole more resilient. For better climate, environmental and animal protection, cooperative approaches should not only strengthen cooperation between farmers, but also cooperation with partners from nature conservation.
