What happened to the market during the week?
The “S&P 500” index continued to grow in the previous week as well. This time by 52.44 points or +1.28%. Many experts believe that this trend will be replaced by a decline in the near future. As usual, there are several reasons for this – high inflation and low unemployment pressured the FRS to continue the policy of raising rates. In addition, the financial reports of the leading companies have a negative impact on the market, as the majority of companies anticipate the worst profit since the beginning of the pandemic.
The trend in the Baltic markets is positive. All in all, it seems that winter worries are starting to slowly recede. It is true that the Riga Stock Exchange index “OMX Riga” decreased by 0.5% this week. However, the Vilnius stock exchange index increased by 0.95%, while “OMX Tallinn” increased by 0.33% this week. The general Baltic stock index “OMX Baltic Benchmark GI” increased by 0.71% this week.
“Bitcoin” last week reached another high point since the summer of last year – 30 thousand dollars for one coin. This is a significant amount when the coin was well below 20 thousand at the beginning of the year. Positive trends can also be observed in other cryptocurrencies. The reason, as usual with cryptocurrencies, is not entirely clear, but one of them is the innovations in the “Ethereum” chain.
Portfolio changes
The common situation with Kuzikov shares is as follows:
- In the previous week, 11 shares continued to show positive returns.
- For the first time, the platform showed an unrealized profit – 43.16 euros.
In the previous week, 8 stocks continued to show a negative trend. The biggest increase was shown by “JPM” shares +0.47% and “MOS” shares +0.23%. The biggest drop in value was shown by “WMT” -0.17% and “NEE” by -0.14%.
The situation with Vilūn Baltic shares is as follows:
- Five out of nine positions show a positive trend – the best result is “SAF Tehnika”
- Positive growth for the total portfolio is +3.73%
The situation with Vilūn’s cryptocurrency portfolio is as follows:
- Only “Solana” shows a decrease in value
- The biggest drop in value is “Solana” (-69.19%)
- “Ethereum” and “Bitcoin” show positive growth
Kuzikovs changes ETF to Latvian Savings Bonds
“I made my first sale this year. I sold the VUSA ETF, which copies the “S&P 500″ index, and invested the first 50 euros in Latvian savings bonds,” says Kuzikovs.
“Despite the fact that I chose to invest in a 10-year period and I understand that shares must be held for at least 3-5 years, the fact that the ETF that copies the “S&P 500” index does not grow, exactly when the index grows, does not give me peace. I admit that this is related to ETF commissions, because how else to explain the fact that VUSA ETF did not grow during the week, when the index itself added +1.28%. The monthly data is also not pleasing VUSA ETF +0.24%, “S&P 500″ index +4.48 %. I think I made a mistake by choosing this ETF, and therefore I would rather invest the invested money in 12-month savings bonds with a guaranteed yield of 3.6%,” says Kuzikov. “I also continue to follow my diversification strategy and this time I invested in retail companies: PG and WMT. Next week, the investments will go into the food segment.”
Vilūns continues to add to the Baltic portfolio
“I think that I will stick to the principle that I have followed for several weeks – to invest part of the money in cryptocurrencies, part in Baltic shares. I assume that I will return to P2P investments closer to the summer, when it will seem like a safer period has arrived,” says Vilūns.
