This is an article published yesterday morning on the far-right online community ‘Daily Best’.
On the 18th, along with a short video of the MBC reporter and Presidential Secretary for Public Relations Planning, he wrote that he was going to hurt the reporter with a gun.
The perpetrator, who said, “I’m going to MBC,” even mentioned a specific criminal tool.
He further questioned Chairman Yoon Seok-yeol, who characterized the MBC profanity controversy as “harmful fake news” and threatened with a lurid expression at the MBC reporter who had quarreled with his secretary.
After receiving the report from citizens, the police confirmed the reporter’s safety and took measures to protect him, such as giving him a smart watch.
We also launched an investigation into the Internet IP address where the post was written and traced the author.
The post in question has now been deleted, but there are still harsh reactions to the MBC reporter on the wall.
In the MBC reporter’s personal email, hundreds of emails containing critical expressions and threats were poured out after the weekend.
It seems that the level and frequency of direct attacks on journalists are increasing after the recent passport-focused criticisms focused on the questioning attitude and dress of MBC journalists.
The MBC Journalists’ Association said: “Physical intimidation and threats against journalists are a very serious issue that shakes the foundations of press freedom.”
MBC plans to take decisive action against perpetrators who have posted threats, such as calling for investigations and prosecutions.
