Fürth missed the jump to first place in the table – dpa

Karlsruhe (dpa) – After two defensive errors, the impressive away series of SpVgg Greuther Fürth is torn. The Fürth lost 2: 3 (2: 2) at Karlsruher SC and missed the temporary jump to the first place in the table in the 2nd Bundesliga.

With his goal in the 84th minute, striker Philipp Hofmann ensured Baden’s surprising success against third party. The Fürth had not lost an away game in 2020.

In a game in Karlsruhe that was turbulent due to a missed penalty, the goals from Havard Nielsen (23rd minute) and Sebastian Ernst (28th) were too few. Because in the two KSC hits by Benjamin Goller (2nd minute / 45th) the Fürth helped strongly, the mistake of goalkeeper Sascha Burchert before the equalizer to 2: 2 was particularly difficult.

After a back pass, Burchert shot KSC striker Goller, the ball flew into goal from close range. Before Baden’s early leadership, defender Paul Jaeckel shot Karlsruhe’s Marc Lorenz. The blocked ball pushed forward Hofmann in the penalty area to Goller, who executed.

A few minutes after Nielsen equalized for the playfully better Fürth, Karlsruhe’s Philip Heise caused a penalty: goalkeeper Marius Gersbeck, however, saved Paul Seguin’s penalty (28). But then Nielsen headed the corner to take the lead for Fürth.
