Darmstadt – The promotion dreams of second division soccer team SV Darmstadt 98 suffered a damper with the 1: 1 (0: 0) in the home game against SpVgg Greuther Fürth.
Substitute Marvin Stefaniak (87th minute) scored the late equalizer for the guests. Darmstadt had taken the lead through Fabian Schnellhardt (56th). The lilies remain fifth in the table, Fürth moves up to sixth.
Darmstadt had a chance to take the lead with a Schnellhardt free kick (31st), but Fürth’s captain Marco Caligiuri cleared a header just before the line. Two minutes later, Daniel Keita-Ruel headed straight from four meters over the Darmstadt Gate.
In the second round, the hosts were initially lucky when Fabian Holland cleared another Keita-Ruel header in front of the line. Mathias Honsak initiated the lead with a counterattack, Schnellhardt transformed from 16 meters. Felix Platte missed the preliminary decision when he put a penalty kick on the inside post (63 ‘).
