Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – PT PLN Batu Bara, a subsidiary of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara, is considered to be the ringleader for the supply of coal to PLN’s power plants, often contracting with traders.
Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan was furious. Without mercy, Luhut confirmed that he would dissolve the company.
“Nothing [lagi lewat PLN Batu Bara]. We ask that PLN Batu Bara be disbanded,” said Luhut, as quoted on Tuesday (11/1/2022).
The request will be directly submitted by the Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir. This step was taken as an effort to improve the governance of coal procurement for PLN’s power plants.
On the occasion, Luhut said that coal reserves for PLN’s power plants were much safer. The stock of coal for domestic power plants has now reached 25 days.
“Now the first one is all good. We can gradually add 15 days to 25 days for reserves,” said Luhut.
The coal crisis for domestic power plants has indeed triggered the government to impose a policy of banning coal exports from January 1 to January 31, 2022.
However. Luhut said that there were already a dozen ships filled with verified coal for export. The release was made last night.
However, the next export faucet will be opened in stages starting tomorrow, Wednesday 11 January 2022.
