The “Funk” broadcaster produced by ARD and ZDF caused outrage with an Instagram post in its “Die da Oben” format. It advertises a video about right-wing parties. Reason for the criticism: The Union parties are put on the same level as AfD and NPD, the logos of the parties can be seen next to each other in the preview image. The posting says: “Björn Höcke, Alice Weidel, Friedrich Merz and Markus Söder have something in common: they are on the right”.
Funk video makers have already apologized for Post
Several Union politicians express harsh criticism. So did CDU member of the Bundestag Matthias Hauer when asked by FOCUS online: “The CDU stands firmly by our constitution and democracy; For this reason alone it is not permissible to place them in the same ranks as enemies of our constitution and democracy. The post would defame democratic parties.
In the meantime, the Instagram post of the radio format has been deleted, the makers apologized, even director Kai Gniffke had to ask for forgiveness. However, these apologies refer to the Instagram post and not to the video itself. But CDU politician Hauer also criticizes the video clearly.
Union does not want a “hierarchy in society”
The radio video (minutes 1:50 to 2:02) states that all “rightists” have a common denominator – namely that they “assume a hierarchy in society”. However, this does not apply to the Union, says Hauer: “Nowhere in the Union’s program or policy, for example, does it say that it wants a hierarchy in society that it does not want to dissolve”.
Then the video claims that whoever sits further to the right in the Bundestag “also belongs to the political right” (video minute 2:29 to 2:38). Hauer says that this statement simply omits the fact that the traffic light changed the seating arrangement with its majority and “for its own political calculations pushed the CDU and CSU to the sidelines.” But that has nothing to do with the political positions of the Union.
Union introduced minimum wage
The video also says that the CDU has been “having a really hard time with the minimum wage for years.” (Video minute 5:33 to 5:40). This claim is also wrong. According to Hauer, it is correct that the Union introduced the minimum wage and only “has difficulties with subsequent political interventions in the results of the minimum wage commission”.
In addition, Hauer is outraged by the evaluation of his party. The video says that “the only properly recognized form of social life” for the CDU is father-mother-child marriage (video minute 7:00 to 7:16), in which only women do not have to “behind the stove”. (Video minute 8:00 to 8:05). Hauer sees it differently: “CDU and CSU leave it up to people how they live or want to live”.
