Petito’s father said at the funeral service on Sunday in Holbrook on Long Island near New York that people should not be sad about his daughter’s death, but rather take her short, full life as an incentive. “I couldn’t be more proud as a father,” said Joe Petito of his daughter.
Fiancé went into hiding
Her fiancé Laudrie is currently under arrest warrant. The 23-year-old had returned from the trip alone at the beginning of September, initially refused to give evidence of Petito’s disappearance and then disappeared himself.
