Patrycja and Łukasz set off on this last journey together. So unexpectedly. Too early. Orphaning their beloved daughter Zuzia. The funeral of the young couple took place in the church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Chotomów.
It’s a difficult and painful separation. It’s hard to say goodbye to someone who had their whole life ahead of them. And that’s exactly what happened with Patrycja and Łukasz. Four years ago, they had a daughter. They were a happy family. And all of that was suddenly ended by death.
Years ago, they vowed love and loyalty to each other. And now, their coffins stand before the same altar…
I think that many of the people present here were also in our church at the end of July 2018. Then, here, under this altar, Patrycja and Łukasz made their marriage vows. They said these words to each other: always, that I will not leave, that until death do us part. It was a very joyful and beautiful day for everyone. And at the end of July this year, a completely different situation. Sadness, tears, pain, suffering for loved ones, because this tragedy undoubtedly moved everyone
– said the priest during his sermon. He pointed to a kind of clamp, so tragic for spouses.
During their vacation in Masuria, the cold waters of the lake became a grave for Patrycja and Łukasz. The priest emphasized that one should not ask why the couple rushed to help their child. Because it is natural that the parents wanted to save their daughter. “They wanted to save her life. It was a reflex. Could there be anything more noble?” the priest wondered. As he emphasized, the parents encountered an element that is “unpredictable, unpredictable.” “No one can feel safe,” he added.
During the sermon, words were brought up about the sudden and unexpected death of the couple.
With the great violence of this death, this event makes us realize that we do not know the day or the hour. And no one can feel so sure and strong, because we see how easily a human life in full strength, flourishing, can be destroyed and end
– the priest emphasized.
– Human life changes, but does not end – he emphasized. It is faith that is supposed to bring solace to the suffering family and give meaning to the tragic death.
There were also words about the spouses’ kindness and willingness to help. The priest mentioned the entry of Patricia, who helped others and encouraged them to help. – They will not come to help now. Now we can come to help them. We can help them with prayer – he emphasized. He added that the spouses’ last message is: be ready, close to the Lord and united with Him.
I think it is possible to say to the dead that they have fought the good fight, but they have also finished the race. For them the Lord has laid up this crown of justice
– the priest referred to the words of the Gospel.
After the mass, the funeral procession set off towards the cemetery, where the coffins were placed in a common grave.

Tragedy in Masuria. Parents drowned while saving their daughter
The tragedy took place on Tuesday afternoon, July 30, on Lake Mikołajskie in Masuria. Their daughter, four-year-old Zuzia, fell out of the boat that the family from near Warsaw was sailing on. Her parents, Patrycja and Łukasz, rushed to help the little one and jumped into the water.
Little Zuzanna was wearing a life jacket. She was fished out by sailors passing by. Her parents were swallowed by the depths. Their bodies were pulled from the cold water the next day. They were lying at a depth of about 11 m and about 500 m from the shore.
While the search was underway, Patrycja’s father called the police. When he heard about the tragedy, he realized that it might be his family. The terrible suspicions were confirmed. He was the one who picked up the orphaned Zuzia from the hospital.
– The man officially reported his daughter and her husband missing. He said that his daughter had told him that she was going to Masuria with her family – junior asp. Paulina Karo from the District Police Headquarters in Mrągowo told “Fakt”.
An investigation has been launched into the tragedy. It is being conducted by the District Prosecutor’s Office in Olsztyn. The proceedings are being conducted in the direction of causing a fatal accident in water traffic. Investigators are not ruling out any of the hypotheses regarding the event.

Who were Zuzia’s parents?
The couple lived in Chotomów near Warsaw. Patrycja, together with her mother and sister, ran a beauty salon in nearby Legionowo. Łukasz worked as a technical advisor for one of the mobile operators. He was also a keen sportsman. Łukasz was a multiple Polish Champion in powerlifting and barbell pressing.
It is also known that the family has not been on holiday in Masuria for the first time. Last year they also went to the Masurian lakes. They never returned from that trip…
