Funds Approved for Repairing Damaged Border Fence with Turkey After Torrential Rains

The torrential rains that claimed lives in Tsarevo last month also caused serious damage to the border fence with Turkey. This is clear from the transcript of the meeting of the Council of Ministers (CoM) last week, reports flagman.bg.

The press center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the funds are for “financial provision of the management of an engineering facility of an impeding type on the Bulgarian-Turkish border”.

“The funds are necessary for the implementation of urgent repair and restoration activities of the engineering facility of the obstructing type and the adjacent infrastructure, related to significant damage caused to the temporary obstruction facility, the service roads and the constructed drains, culverts and bridges, as a result of the torrential rains in South-Eastern Bulgaria from September 4 and 5, 2023 in the area of ​​responsibility of RD “GP” – Elhovo,” says the minister.

“The main major damages are in places with constructed culverts on ravines with large watersheds in the area of ​​responsibility of GPU – Malko Tarnovo and GPU – Rezovo.

The following estimated values ​​have been determined for carrying out construction and installation works or delivery of construction materials for the restoration of the engineering facility of an obstructing type and the adjacent infrastructure.

First, restoration of 11 heavily damaged sub-objects – about BGN 3.5 million. Second, restoration of damage to the engineering facility of the obstructing type, adjacent type and facilities in other sections – BGN 1.5 million,” adds Kalin Stoyanov.
