Funding program for e-vehicles in companies is expanded – Berlin.de

Small and medium-sized companies in Berlin get more support if they want to switch to electrically powered vehicles. To this end, the funding conditions of the Economic Electromobility (WELMO) program, which is also intended for Berlin self-employed people, have been changed. As the Senate Department for Economics announced, the minimum price of 40,000 euros for the purchase of a commercial vehicle with an electric motor no longer applies with immediate effect. Applications can also be made for cheaper models.

In addition, the purchase of class N2 vehicles with more than 3.5 tons is now being subsidized. There is a quarter of the net offer price, a maximum of 15,000 euros. So far, the regulation only applied to smaller N1 vehicles.

On the other hand, the amount of funding for so-called light electric vehicles (LEV), which are used for the “last mile” in logistics, is increasing. In order to support the acquisition of such vehicles even more than before, there is a maximum of 5000 euros instead of the previous 2000 euros, according to the economic administration.

In addition, it is possible to combine the federal program “Umweltbonus” with the Berlin WELMO program. “By switching to electric drives, Berlin companies are making an important contribution to the sustainable mobility transition,” said Economic Senator Ramona Pop (Greens). The option of combining both funding programs will make the switch to electromobility in the commercial vehicle segment even more attractive.

The funding program for electric vehicles in small and medium-sized companies in Berlin started in July 2018. According to the economic administration, around 14.2 million euros had been approved by the end of October 2020, of which around 1.1 million were approved in 2018, 6 million euros in 2019 and around 7.1 million this year.
