Fundacin Mapfre celebrates Women’s Day with free admission to its centers in Madrid and Barcelona

The Mapfre Foundation will celebrate International Women’s Day, which is celebrated this Wednesday, March 8, with free admission to its centers in Madrid and Barcelona, ​​as announced in a statement.

In this way, visitors will be able to enjoy the exhibitions by Leonora Carrington, ‘Revelation and Facundo de Zuvira. Estampas Porteas’ at the Recoletos room (Madrid) and pieces by Ilse Bing and Anastasia Samoylova, ‘Image Cities’ at the ‘KBr Fundacin MAPFRE’ center in Barcelona.

In addition, the foundation has organized guided visits to the Bing and Samoylova exhibitions in Barcelona, ​​with the aim of offering an approach to the artists, their lives and their work.

In this sense, the visits will revolve around the parallelisms of these two artists of photography and architecture who, in their corresponding periods, capture the lights and shadows of cities with the necessary elements to create authentic visual poetry.

Ilse Bing captured in her snapshots the shallow lines of the Bauhaus, the vitality and cultural turmoil of Paris, and the “overwhelming” character of New York architecture.

Meanwhile, Samoylova’s images express the “ambivalences and contradictions” of today’s urban landscape: while cities try to promote their individuality, their spaces move towards a generic scenario in which the specific image of each city loses its uniqueness in an anonymous architecture. steel and glass.
