functionality of voice chat rooms improves

Twitter is improving Spaces, its recently launched voice chat rooms feature. Now you can see the Spaces that the people you follow are participating in if you want to join them more easily.

Failing to buy Clubhouse for $ 4 billion, Twitter launched the Spaces feature earlier this year. It comes in the form of voice chat rooms that users can join to chat with each other. The operation is therefore very similar to that of Clubhouse, the popular audio social network.

After giving itself a visual overhaul with a new font and a more contrasting design, Twitter is improving Spaces to give more visibility to this feature on the platform. Some users on iOS or Android already have access to the new features of Spaces. In particular, they can see at the top of their timeline the Spaces in which the people they follow are participating in real time. They can also change privacy settings to choose who can see their listening activity.

Spaces have definitely replaced Fleets in Twitter

Twitter’s Fleets went down the drain last month. The social network has effectively abandoned its ephemeral stories in a way Instagram that did not perform as well as expected with users. Thereby, Spaces have replaced Fleets at the top of the news feed on the home page. Now, Twitter intends to make them even more accessible by showing the Spaces that the people you follow have joined.

If you don’t want your followers to see the Space you’re participating in in real time, just change your privacy settings in the app. As a reminder, not everyone can yet create a Space on Twitter. Must have 600 followers au minimum to create your own Space. However, all users can join Spaces as listeners. They can speak when the Space host gives them permission. This prevents everyone from speaking at the same time, which would be very unpleasant in spaces with several dozen participants.

Finally, Twitter has not yet specified when all users will have access to new Spaces. The social network has been constantly improving this feature since its launch. Earlier this month, he notably introduced the possibility of designate up to two co-hosts for a Space in addition to the main host.
