Funcom and developer Shiro Games have released a first look at “gameplay” from their upcoming 4X strategy game Dune: Spice Wars.

The trailer, which you see above, gives a brief overview of what awaits the planet Arrakis. You have to fight both a battle for existence and for control over “spice” – the most valuable resource in the entire Dune universe.
As the video explains, the game offers a number of different ways to play. For example, you can indulge in Arrakis’ locals and recruit soldiers that way, or force them to do as you please.
Once established, spice recovery can begin. Other factions, however, are eager to get their share of the pie, and you can either fight or try various diplomatic or cunning tactics to get away with the most.
Dune: Spice Wars is scheduled to open for early access during the year. The goal is to further develop the game over a period of 9-12 months, so the final launch will probably be sometime in 2023.
Funcom will probably also release Conan Chop Chop soon.
