For music lovers, the Brightside Music Festival at Ascarate Park is a must-attend event. For those interested in horse racing, the Ruidoso Downs Racetrack & Casino is hosting the All American Derby, All American Oaks, and All American Futurity races. The races will take place on September 3rd and 4th, with doors opening at 10 a.m. Tickets are required to attend the event, and seat tickets cost $55. If you’re looking to cool off and have some fun in the water, all four city water parks in El Paso will be open during Labor Day weekend. Camp Cohen, Chapoteo, Lost Kingdom, and Oasis water parks will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. It’s important to note that children 6 years of age and under must wear a life jacket and be supervised by an adult at all times.
Lastly, the Inn of the Mountain Gods is hosting an End of Summer bash near Mescalero Lake on September 3rd. The family-friendly event will feature a live DJ, concessions, and activities for kids. A $10 wristband can be purchased for the kids to enjoy jumping balloons and other activities. The day will conclude with fireworks over Lake Mescalero at dusk. Guests are welcome to bring their own chairs and blankets, but BBQ grills are not allowed. Ice chests are permitted, but outside alcoholic beverages and food are not allowed.
