Today begins the now traditional summer camp at El Portal, at Casa Encuentro del Santo Ángel. In this twenty-third edition, which will end on July 23, a total of 46 boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 11 from this rural neighborhood, as well as from the San Cristóbal mountains and the town of Doña Blanca, participate. There is also the collaboration of 25 young volunteers who come from the workshops of the Cáritas Diocesana childhood and youth program, “Imagina”, which are held in El Portal, as well as from the diocesan project of Cáritas Joven and La Salle Sevilla.
From Cáritas it is committed to holding this Camp, since El Portal is an area that does not have more leisure alternatives, mainly for the most vulnerable families. In this way, this initiative represents a leisure and free time initiative for minors in this neighborhood and other parts of the rural area, with whom intense work has been carried out from the “Imagina” program throughout the course.
This year, the Camp focuses on the animated character Mario Bross with the motto “Together towards a new adventure” and values such as brotherhood, courage, effort, teamwork and love will be worked on. During this week they will enjoy games, educational dynamics, excursions, as well as moments of conviviality. The participation of the families of the participating minors will also be promoted to establish affective ties and carry out a comprehensive intervention for children.
