Over the past few days, New Brunswick Public Health has held three appointment vaccination clinics in the rural community of Kedgwick, with the goal of increasing vaccination rates.

In total, only 53 people received their vaccines, according to Mayor Éric Gagnon.

It is certain that we would have liked it to have been full. But I think some people need some reassurance in all of this.

Less than 70% of eligible people are fully vaccinated in some areas, says Mayor Gagnon.

Currently, over 83% of eligible people are fully immunized in New Brunswick.

In zone 4, which encompasses the Edmundston region, more than 80% of people are doubly vaccinated.

In the Grand Falls area, between 70% and 80% of people are fully immunized.

But in the Kedgwick-Saint-Quentin area, just under 70% of eligible people received their two doses.

This is the Acadian region with the lowest vaccination rate in the province.

The mayor of Saint-Quentin, Nicole Somers, is concerned about the impact on health care.

As long as there are no people who are vaccinated, we have a chance to tax our health system. And at that point, what are we going to do? wonders Nicole Somers.

It’s a bit sad. But I can’t say it’s not because the community hasn’t made an effort.

Better target the message

Municipal officials have also made a lot of efforts to encourage people to be vaccinated. The situation is delicate in Kedgwick, according to Mayor Gagnon.

The city council would like to know in which age group are the least vaccinated to better target their campaign.

years, well there is certainly another approach to bring “,” text “:” That would be pleasant, because after that, we could target these people. If it is those of 30 years, well it is certain that there is another approach to bring “}}”>That would be nice, because after that, we could target these people. If it’s the 30-year-olds, well, there is certainly another approach to take, believes Éric Gagnon.

The mayor of Kedgwick is optimistic the vaccination rate will increase in the area, but it will take time.

Nicole Somers For his part, believes that the task of convincing the unvaccinated promises to be difficult.
