Full trains at Whitsun – FFH.de

On the Pentecost weekend, the buses and trains in Hesse are full, especially on popular tourist routes.

At Pentecost there is usually always a lot of activity on the railway. This year, the 9-euro ticket will be added. With the ticket, travelers can use local public transport throughout Germany in the months of June, July and August.

Bicycle transport often not possible

Travelers reported overcrowded trains and delays. Rail customers with bicycles were not even able to board some journeys. Deutsche Bahn therefore says that anyone who can should do without their bikes on the train at Pentecost or rent a bike on site.

The transport companies had already announced in advance that it would not always be possible to take bicycles everywhere. The Rhein-Main-Verkehrsverbund is also seeing a rush, especially on the routes to the popular excursion regions.

“People almost fell out of train doors.”

Travelers also reported to our reporter about full trains and delays. A man who had previously taken the regional train from Munich to Würzburg said: “It was hardcore, it was a struggle. In Munich, the train was so full that people almost fell out of the doors.”

Additional vehicles and staff are in short supply

Sabine Herms from the North Hessian Transport Association told our reporter in advance: Although the space capacities have been expanded, there is not much leeway because vehicles and personnel are in short supply.

If you are planning a trip over Pentecost despite full trains and possible delays, you will find plenty of inspiration for great excursion destinations here in Hesse:
