The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (Minister Sung Yun-mo, hereinafter the Ministry of Industry) consolidated and announced plans to support new tasks for mid-sized companies’ R&D projects in ’21, and provided a total of 26.9 billion won to five projects, including the World Class Plus project (14.9 billion won compared to 12 billion won in 2020). In ’21, 16 new companies were selected to provide up to 6 billion won per company for technology development for securing global competitiveness, and comprehensive support for corporate growth such as finance, exports, and manpower through the world-class Sherpa program.

Expand the’regional representative mid-sized business development project’ to discover promising mid-sized companies in the region and grow them as the backbone of the regional economy and industrial ecosystem.

In ’21, 21 new companies were selected to support R&D of up to KRW 800 million for two years per company, and consortiums with local small and medium-sized enterprises, universities, and research institutes were mandated to induce the creation of a regional growth ecosystem through technology development cooperation.

We support the establishment of an innovative ecosystem led by mid-sized companies such as win-win, growth, and manpower.

Through the’Middle-sized Enterprise Win-Win Innovation Project’, a maximum of 1 billion won was provided for two years to seven early mid-sized enterprises-SME consortiums to promote the spread of a win-win innovation growth model between competent mid-sized enterprises and SMEs, and foster’strong and small venture-type mid-sized enterprises. ‘Project’ was newly established to select six medium-sized related and invested companies that possessed the will and potential for innovation, but were excluded from the policy of small and medium-sized companies so far, and jointly support them with the parent company.
