Armed with this victory, Marcus/Kevin are now in second place in Group A’s standings with 1 point, behind representatives from Denmark, Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, who also has 1 point.
Duet Astrup/Rasmussen is entitled to occupy the top position because it excels in matters of insertion and entry points (42-21 vs. 44-40).
Apart from Marcus/Kevin, other Indonesian representatives who won their inaugural match were Greysia Polii/Apriyani Rahayu.
The women’s doubles pair, who won gold medals at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, silenced the first seed from Thailand, Jongkolphan Kititharakul/Rawinda Prajongjai, with a score of 21-15, 21-12.
