Full redress to Siv Presthus – VG

FULL VICTORY: Siv Presthus is incredibly happy and relieved about the result.

Following negotiations with the City of Oslo, the parties have reached an agreement on full redress and compensation to Siv Presthus.

Thus, the trial is over.

– We are happy that we were able to reach an agreement in this matter. This has been very demanding for everyone involved and has characterized Ammerud school for several years, says Brynhild Farbrot, division director for primary school.

Presthus is previously employed at Ammerud school in Oslo, and sued the municipality.

– I am so incredibly happy and relieved that justice prevailed and that the truth came out in the end, says Siv Presthus to Avisa Oslo.

Negotiations have been going on throughout the day, and on Thursday afternoon it became known that the parties have agreed on a settlement that gave Presthus a full victory.

– This sets a standard for many teachers. I hope what has happened in my case helps to make it easier for whistleblowers who come after me, Presthus tells the newspaper.

SEVERAL NOTICES: Several former employees at Ammerud school have reported a poor psychosocial environment in the workplace.

In the summons against Ammerud School, the Education Agency and the City of Oslo, she, together with the Education Association, demanded redress and compensation after no action was taken against the school’s handling of her as an employee.

Presthus suffered a neck injury after a student in a climbing frame landed on her. After the accident, she became 50 percent disabled. This meant that she needed some facilitation, but continued as a special educator at the school in a part-time position.

When Ammerud School got a new principal in 2015, she experienced that the workload increased beyond her vacancy.

She said that in practice she had doubled the number of students with very special needs from before – despite her half position.

She said earlier this year that what she experienced as a poorer psychosocial work environment, made her 100 percent disabled in November 2019.

She has criticized the Education Agency in Oslo municipality for not intervening in her case with the school management.
