The full pink moon. Where does the name come from?
The name of the April full moon does not refer to the color of the Moon’s disc, because it does not change its color. The name comes from the color of the phlox flowers, whose flowering period in North America begins this month. The original origin of the names given to each full moon goes back to Native Americans.

Other names for the April fullness are the Sprouting Grass Full, the Egg Full, and the Fish Full.

Full Moon – how this phenomenon occurs
The full moon is one of the four phases of the moon. It happens when our natural satellite is opposed to the Sun, that is, on the opposite side of the Earth to the Sun. During a full moon, the Moon’s disc is fully visible because it is fully illuminated by sunlight. At the same time, the other side is not lit at all. What’s a full moon? A full moon occurs on average every 29.5 days.

The moon’s influence on Earth is seen primarily in the form of tides. It is the regular rise and fall of the water level in the seas and oceans. This phenomenon is clearly visible in the oceans. In the Baltic Sea it is practically imperceptible.
