While a front in the west of the country will ensure a rather cloudy weekend, it will remain sunny in the eastern parts of the country. How many hours of sunshine can be expected in the regions, who is at the top and who is at the bottom?

After some of the eastern federal states had to lose out in terms of sunshine last weekend, it’s now the turn of the western regions this weekend. The foothills of Deep Claudia touches the regions between the North Sea and the Black Forest. Clouds of varying density spread here, but raindrops only rarely fall. In any case, the cloudiness will contribute to the fact that the duration of sunshine lags behind significantly compared to the east and south-east.
Who can now look forward to bright sunshine and the most hours of sunshine, where is there a strong damper?
All areas from the Baltic Sea to the eastern federal states to the Alps are absolutely preferred. Due to the position of the sun, 11 hours of sunshine are possible in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, otherwise up to 12 hours. Bremen, Frankfurt am Main and Stuttgart, for example, are in the transition area between cloudless and heavily clouded skies with up to 9 hours of sunshine. The further west you are, the less sunshine you will see. In Mainz there are 6-7 hours of sunshine, in Cologne around 5 hours. Trier, for example, gets a maximum of 2 hours of sunshine.
There will be a similar picture on Sunday as well: From Brandenburg to the Alps there will be bright sunshine from morning to night – or to put it in figures: up to 12 hours of sunshine. From Kiel via Hamburg, Hanover and Frankfurt to Freiburg/Breisgau, the values are between 8 and 10 hours. Again in Cologne and in the Ruhr area there will be a maximum of 3 to 5 hours of sunshine. It looks really cloudy repeatedly in Trier and also in Saarland with just 1 to 2 hours of sunshine.
In the new week there will also be less sunshine in the north and east, as the clouds are noticeably expanding eastwards. Only the southeast continues to benefit from the high air pressure and can expect another 10 to 12 hours of sunshine. Tuesday will then be rather cloudy in almost all parts of the country with 0 to a maximum of 4 hours of sunshine.
