Full-day education will be implemented gradually

Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu said that full-day education will be started in schools two days a week, on Mondays and Tuesdays, and that the goal is to increase full-day education to five days in the coming years.

Stating that it will cover grades, middle and high schools and vocational high schools, Çavuşoğlu stated that this application, which will be implemented as a pilot application, will be followed closely and the necessary arrangements will be made in case of problems.

Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu made evaluations to the Turkish Agency Cyprus (TAK) about the new academic year.

Stating that the reinforcement projects planned to be carried out in line with the reports of the earthquake performances of schools have started to be presented by the Chamber of Civil Engineers (IMO) and that the Ministry has started to take some measures in this direction, Çavuşoğlu stated that it is not possible to complete the demolition or reinforcement works to be carried out in schools during the summer holidays.

Çavuşoğlu stated that they took the necessary precautions and installed temporary prefabricated classrooms in the schools that pose a risk in this process, until they provide healthier conditions for students, teachers and workers.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that there will be no problems with stationery and books as the new academic year begins.

Stating that all stationery materials were distributed to schools, Çavuşoğlu stated that students will receive their materials completely by the first bell.

“NEW EDUCATION YEAR WILL START TOMORROW”

Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu said that they once again experienced the excitement and happiness of starting a new academic year and wished all students, teachers and the education community a year full of success.

Çavuşoğlu stated that the 2023-2024 academic year will start tomorrow with approximately 25 thousand students who will study in 126 public and private schools affiliated with the Department of Primary Education.

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that approximately 23 thousand secondary and high school students who will study in 48 public and private schools affiliated with the General Secondary Education Department and 4 thousand vocational high school students who will study in 12 schools affiliated with the Vocational Technical Education Department will start the new academic year on Tuesday, September 19. .

Stating that education is one of the most fundamental tools in the development and progress of societies, Çavuşoğlu said that for this reason, the importance they attach to education for the future of the country increases day by day.

In this context, Çavuşoğlu stated that they are working to raise the quality of education, to ensure that students are educated in a well-equipped manner and to help them realize their dreams.

“WE ARE STARTING GRADUALLY FULL-DAY EDUCATION”

Minister of National Education Nazım Çavuşoğlu stated that the full-day education initiative, which has been included in government programs for years but has had difficulties in its implementation, will start gradually this year.

Reiterating their determination for full-time education, Çavuşoğlu said that within this framework, they will switch to full-day education in schools two days a week, on Mondays and Tuesdays.

“WE STARTED TAKING SOME MEASURES IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REPORTS SENT BY IMO”

Çavuşoğlu said that there was a very painful experience with the February 6 earthquake, and that the academic year was completed with alternative methods by taking precautions in schools that pose a structural risk in line with the first investigations, and said the following regarding the current stage:

“At the current stage; Our inspection team, established under the umbrella of the Chamber of Civil Engineers, with the appointment of the Prime Ministry Earthquake Control Committee, to determine the earthquake performance of our schools, went through an intense and long-lasting testing process after the closure of our schools.

As a result of the examinations and tests, reports on the earthquake performance of our schools and the reinforcement projects planned to be carried out in line with these reports have started to be submitted to our Ministry by the Chamber of Civil Engineers.

“In line with the reports sent by IMO, our Ministry has started to take some measures to ensure the safety of our students, teachers and workers.”

“WE STARTED THE STRUCTURAL TRANSFORMATION PROCESS OF OUR SCHOOLS”

Stating that it is not possible to complete the demolition or reinforcement works to be carried out in schools during the summer holidays, Çavuşoğlu thanked the IMO delegation for their superhuman efforts to carry out the necessary tests and present reports and projects.

“They carried out the examinations and tests, and they send us the reports and projects as they are completed,” said Çavuşoğlu, adding that they started the structural transformation process of the schools in line with the reports and projects received.

Stating that they will strengthen the schools that need to be strengthened, demolish the schools that need to be demolished and build new and fully equipped buildings in their place, Çavuşoğlu said, “We will complete the structural transformation of our schools together.”

“WE WILL BUILD NEW SCHOOLS WITH THE ‘YOU BUILD A SCHOOL’ CAMPAIGN”

Stating that they will continue the “You Build a School” campaign, which they implemented to bring new schools to education, Çavuşoğlu stated that in this context, they will bring new schools to education with the support of the country’s philanthropic business people.

Making an evaluation regarding the strengthening, repair and renovation of the structures of schools that do not pose a risk in line with the reports received, Çavuşoğlu said that they carried out the maintenance and repairs of the schools in line with the reports sent by IMO.

Çavuşoğlu stated that within the framework of these reports, they completed the maintenance and repairs of 50 schools with high earthquake resistance in a short time, with an expenditure of 57 million TL, in cooperation with local governments, and prepared them for the new academic year.

Stating that they took steps to meet the hardware needs of schools and delivered 3 thousand 115 new desks, 3 thousand 665 new chairs, 176 air conditioners, 475 new computers and various hardware equipment to schools, Çavuşoğlu said that the educational materials sent last year with the support of the motherland Turkey. He stated that they were distributed to schools and the assembly process of 750 smart boards sent was completed.

“EXPENDITURE OF MORE THAN 2 MILLION TL TO DEVELOP SPECIAL EDUCATION”

In addition, Çavuşoğlu stated that camera systems have been installed in 6 schools and will be installed in 9 more schools, and noted that 280 thousand TL has been spent in line with the special education development project, and 2 million TL in total will be spent.

“WE DO NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH STATIONERY AND BOOKS”

Minister Çavuşoğlu stated that there will be no problems with stationery and books as the new academic year begins.

In this context, Çavuşoğlu said that all stationery materials were distributed to schools and emphasized that students will receive their materials “completely” with the first bell.

Stating that the books to be used in the 2023-2024 academic year have been delivered to schools, Çavuşoğlu emphasized that all students will have their books completely at the end of the first week.

Stating that meetings were held with the academicians who were previously involved in writing the school books, Çavuşoğlu stated that after receiving detailed opinions, it will be evaluated what kind of work will be carried out in line with these opinions.

“WE CAN OVERCOME PROBLEMS BY ACTING TOGETHER WITH ALL STAKEHOLDERS AND DRAWING A ROADMAP”

Stating that there is still a lot of work to be done and many steps to be taken in education, Çavuşoğlu said, “We are aware of the accumulated problems of education and we are spending all our efforts to eliminate the existing problems. However, it is not possible to overcome these problems, as well as the structural problems of our schools, all at once,” he said.

Stating that these problems can only be overcome by acting together with all stakeholders in education, motivating each other and drawing a planned road map, Çavuşoğlu said, “At this point, I believe that we will overcome the problems we experience with the support of both our unions, our business people and all our stakeholders whose hearts beat for education.” he said.
