To dissect the summer perfs, daily newspaper for which we would sign every day if we were given the opportunity. Days after Isaiah Thomas sent 82 points to the Seattle Pro-Am hosted by Jamal Crawford, it’s up to Payton Pritchard to take all the light and fuck it on his head. We debrief.
Exiled from the Summer League in the middle of the week to honor a family engagement, Payton Pritchard was just seen shearing daron in Oregon. It was during a match of Portland Pro-Am that the small Celtics leader shone by wedging 92 points to the nose and beard of Mike James, joker of the Nets at the end of last season. Faced with this confrontation between two electric batteries known to the NBA prosecution, the crowd of this small room in Portland was delirious, but the videos are unfortunately not legion. One shows Payton Pritchard drawing from midfield – successfully – the other focuses on the final score of this meeting: 165-163 for the man’s team with 92 units. His qualities as a former Euroleague best scorer mobilized, Mike James could not prevent the setback of his guys, despite his 63 personal points. Although we do not see any potential impact on the professional future of the two pointguard, this match had the merit of fueling a feed very calm summer in this period. And then, a player is always well inspired to remind NBA franchises that he floats among the mundane, isn’t it Isaiah Thomas?
Payton Pritchard and Mike James went crazy at @portlandproam today ????

If Payton Pritchard came to slip a moral in the middle of this story, it is that even when we have the feeling of a job well done, we always have something to give. Party of the Summer League before the tournament gong, the darling of the Celtics Nation had to return to his native Oregon to settle some family imperatives. Before that, Pritchard came out of three oh-so-tranquilou-bilou performances in front of summer rosters unable to muzzle him : a nice opening against the Hawks with 23 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 interceptions and 0 loss of ball; a feast of Nuggets with 21 puntos, 8 rebounds, 12 assists, 1 interception and 1 loss of ball; then the big confirmation in front of the Magic with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals and 3 lost balloons. It’s interesting to show an obvious superiority that some great talents still struggle to express in Summer League.
He was only 8 points away from getting Wilt Chamberlain’s record, with the only difference being that Payton Pritchard was playing against plumber-locksmiths in Pro-Am. His skills as an NBA player are once again displayed in broad daylight, it is now up to him to regularize his performance in the Great League to legitimize his place on the Boston bench.
