Thursday afternoon, at the Rosporden Cultural Center, 90 slots were offered to welcome donors, and 90 of them responded to requests from the French Blood Establishment. “90 donors, including eight new donors, is good news. This fundraising organized between the holidays traditionally attracts a lot of donors ”, welcomes André Le Gall, president of Concarneau Blood Donation Association and his country.
Among the eight newcomers to have taken the plunge, there was Marie Pleidel, a young 19-year-old student. Marie is the granddaughter of Renée and Jean-Claude Castrec, former traders in Rosporden, former donors too, and today involved in the team of local volunteers. “Renée invited me to come and help her during a fundraising campaign and that caught my attention. I told myself that I had to get started so today my grandfather accompanied me for this first. There was a little apprehension at the start but everything went well, even if it was a bit long at the end ”, smiles the young woman, who will continue to give blood on the side of Saint-Nazaire, history to perpetuate the family tradition. In 2020, 287 donors presented themselves to Rosporden during the four blood drives, compared to 321 in 2019.
