The Hyundai factory in Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java, will start its first production on Monday, January 17, 2022. This factory has a number of sophistications, including full air conditioning and has used around 409 robots for the car assembly process.
PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMDI) invited a number of journalists to see the new factory of PT Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) in Bekasi, West Java. In the event which took place on Thursday (13/1), the media crew also had the opportunity to do the first drive of the Hyundai Creta.
For information, on November 26, 2019, Hyundai Motor Company and the Indonesian government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to build a manufacturing factory in the country which will also become its first manufacturing center in Southeast Asia. The plant has an investment value of around USD 1.55 billion until 2030.
The construction of the factory, which is located in Deltamas, Central Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia, was completed in December 2021. The manufacturing plant is built on an area of 77.7 hectares with a building area of 18.8 hectares. This factory can produce 150 thousand cars per year.

With the completion of the factory construction in Indonesia, Hyundai immediately started the production process of the first Hyundai model made in Indonesia, for the Indonesian people, namely the Hyundai Creta. Besides Creta, Hyundai will also produce an electric car, the Ioniq 5, in 2022.
On Thursday, 13/1/2022, HMMI invited journalists, including detikOto, to take a peek at the vehicle production process at HMMI’s facilities, including medical oxygen production facilities, safety training center, press shop, body shop, and finally the assembly shop.
Oh yes, as long as the media crew went around the HMMI factory facility, Hyundai forbade us to take pictures, either in the form of photos or videos, so we could not present them in a visual form to the readers.
