Fulda (oz/as) – The city and district of Fulda awarded seven new day care workers. In addition to the seven new child minders, eleven existing child minders received their second qualification certificate. The prerequisite for this second certificate is to be working as a childminder while participating in the job-related qualification course and to successfully complete the examination.

A total of 18 day care workers from the city and district received awards – seven from the city of Fulda and eleven from the district of Fulda. “They are all an important building block in ensuring childcare for families in the city of Fulda but also in all other municipalities in the district,” explains Fulda’s mayor Dag Wehner: “The need for childcare places is constantly increasing, especially in the U3 area. In addition to the day-care centers, you as a childminder offer very individual care times and are therefore an important mainstay in childcare.”

Ulrich Nesemann, Head of the Department of Education and Family in the district of Fulda, brought the best greetings from District Administrator Bernd Woide and First District Deputy Frederik Schmitt at the celebration. Nesemann is very happy that there are always new courses and thus new day care workers. “There is a lack of skilled workers in all areas. The shortage is most pronounced in the social sector. Every person who decides to work in this field is a godsend for our society. I wish you a lot of strength and perseverance for your demanding and responsible job,” said Nesemann.

Christiane Becker-Ott from the Office for Youth, Family and Senior Citizens in the city of Fulda thanked the day care workers on behalf of the specialist departments of the city and district of Fulda: “Our qualification normally takes nine to ten months. We tried something new with you and carried out the qualification in six months. As a result, you had to come to Fulda for training on numerous weekends and also on Sundays. We are very grateful to you for that.”

“It’s nice that we’re such a mixed group today. Some are just at the beginning of their work, some from the work-related courses have been there for more than ten or twelve years. That’s just nice to see,” explains Jutta Henschke, who is responsible for the qualification at the adult education center in the district of Fulda. “You now have the most important hand tool for your job at hand. We wish you the very best.”
