New York September 8:
Shortly after Fujifilm launched the lightning-fast X-H2S, adapted for action, sports and wildlife photography, comes the edition for those who need 8K video and higher resolution than the X-H2S’s 26 megapixels.
The Fujifilm X-H2 is the second camera in the Fuji X series, which replaces the X-H1. But this is about resolution rather than speed and 8K video, which is rare in cameras. In any case, in this class we are talking about a camera with an APS-C format image sensor.
The camera shares a house with the X-H2S, all buttons and dials, screens and connections are the same, as is the 5.76 Mp viewfinder, and under the right cover are two card slots . One for CFexpress B and one for SD card.
But inside it is completely different. Here you get a 40.2 Mp image sensor – not stacked – that supports internal video recording in 8K30p, with the Apple ProRes codec. You can record 4: 2: 2 10-bit 8K / 30p and 12-bit RAW output video via HDMI to an Atomos recorder.
The X-H2 also has a weatherproof magnesium housing, five-axis image stabilization that compensates for up to seven stops, and the same lightning-fast autofocus with subject recognition and deep learning AI-teknik, like X-H2S.
The X-H2 can also use the new FT-XH vertical grip which has FTP transfer image transfer via Ethernet or Wi-Fi and external recording function via wired network.
The camera has a new X-Trans CMOS 5 HR image sensor with 40 Mp and with pixel shift you can take photos up to 160 Mp. Images from the camera are put together in the software later and not in the camera.
Fujifilm has also worked to suppress image noise at high ISOs and claims it is significantly better than even the X-T4 at high ISOs. Color dynamics should also be better than previous generations and more like the colors you get from Fuji’s GFX series medium format cameras.
The lowest ISO is lowered to 64 and 125, and the shortest shutter speed with the electronic shutter is extremely high at 1 / 180,000s.
Video can be archived in F-Log and F-Log2, at 500 and 1000 ISO, respectively, and the camera supports image saving in 10-bit HEIF, 14-bit uncompressed RAW and jpeg format.
High resolution works best with new Fuji lenses, including those launched in 2021, such as the 18mm f1.4, 23mm f1.4, 33mm f1.4, and now comes another one: the XF 56 mm f1.2 R WR II.
It is a new edition of the Fujinon XF 56mm F1.2 R, but a completely new construction with significantly better autofocus and improved image quality. Incidentally, the sharpness in the corners is significantly improved at f1.2. The close range has been reduced from 70 to 50cm, which also extends the range of use. Since the lens has an aperture of F1.2 and a focal length equivalent to 85mm in the 35mm format, it is perfect for portraits with shallow depth of field and soft backgrounds. The so-called bokeh.
