Fujifilm presents the new premium compact camera X100V

With the new Fujifilm X100V, Fujifilm presents the fifth model of the legendary X100 series. The weatherproof premium compact camera with a newly developed 1: 2.0 / 23mm fixed focal length, further improved hybrid viewfinder and a foldable touch LCD is suitable for everyone who wants to express their creativity in photo and videography individually. It is equipped with the powerful combination of the latest X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor with 26.1 megapixels and the current X processor 4.

The main features of the Fujifilm X100V:

• 26.1 megapixel X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor
• X processor 4
• Further developed Fujinon 1: 2.0 / 23mm lens
• 4K / 30p video function
• Foldable 7.6 cm (3 inch) touch LCD with 1.62 million pixels
• Innovative hybrid finder
• Weatherproof (in combination with the adapter ring AR-X100 and the protective filter PRF-49)

The stylish design of the Fujifilm X100V deliberately stands for minimalism, and the handling evokes memories of a time when every picture had a deeper meaning and survived many generations. With the first X100, Fujifilm laid the foundation for the successful X system. Since then, the X100 series has been continuously developed. The X100S, the X100T and finally the X100F marked further milestones. This success story is now being continued with the new X100V.

The design of the Fujifilm X100V is of timeless elegance. The upper and the lower housing plate are made of solid aluminum and ensure the perfect appearance of the camera. The anodized aluminum gives the case a nice silky sheen. The handle, the ISO dial and the lens barrel have been slightly revised compared to the previous model to make the handling and operation of the camera even more convenient. The 7.6 cm (3 inch) large LC display is now foldable and has an intuitive touch function, which makes photography and viewing the pictures more user-friendly. As the first model of the X100 series, the new X100V is weatherproof: In combination with the adapter ring AR-X100 and the protective filter PRF-49 (both available as optional accessories), it is completely protected against splash water and dust.

The lens of the camera with a fixed focal length of 23mm (equivalent to 35mm for KB) has been redesigned especially for the high-resolution X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor. In terms of resolution performance and distortion correction, it is significantly improved compared to previous models, although it has not grown in size. The lens still has an integrated ND filter that reduces the amount of light by four EV levels, and it is still compatible with the optionally available wide-angle and tele-converters.

The heart of the X100V is the duo of X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor and X processor 4. The new 26.1 megapixel sensor with rear exposure offers a high level of detail and an expanded dynamic range. The sensor’s pixel pattern prevents annoying moiré effects and color errors so effectively that an optical low-pass filter could be dispensed with. The powerful X processor 4 with quad-core technology guarantees fast data processing and, thanks to a new AF algorithm, ensures precise focusing even in low light down to -5 EV.

The large hybrid viewfinder, which is one of the key features of the X100 series, has been significantly further developed. It can be used either as an optical viewfinder with 0.52x magnification or as an electronic viewfinder (EVF) with 3.69 million pixels, whereby the user can switch between both modes quickly and easily when taking pictures. With a 95 percent image field coverage and an integrated correction of the parallax effect, the motif can be seen unchanged in the optical viewfinder, while the electronic viewfinder shows a preview of the later image result in real time. The X100V also offers an electronic range finder (Electronic Range Finder or ERF) that extends the performance of the viewfinder. A small EVF window is displayed at the bottom right of the optical viewfinder, which also supports the user when recording.

Versatile video function The X100V can record videos up to 4K / 30p or Full HD / 60p. In high-speed mode, impressive slow-motion effects can be achieved with Full HD / 120p. For maximum color fidelity, an external recorder can be recorded via HDMI with 10 bit and 4: 2: 2 color sampling. Alternatively, the videos can be provided with one of Fujifilm’s legendary color looks, for example with the Eterna film simulation. In addition, the user can directly apply various image settings such as «monochrome color» or «color chrome effect» to give his pictures an individual touch.

Optional accessories:

Wide angle and teleconverters, With the wide-angle converter WCL-X100 II and the teleconverter TCL-X100 II, the 23mm fixed focal length (equivalent to 35mm KB) of the Fujifilm X100V can be reduced to 28mm (KB equivalent) or extended to 50mm (KB equivalent).

Leather bag. The leather case LC-X100V fits the classic design of the X100V. It is stylistically matched to the camera and does not have to be removed to change the battery and memory card.

The Fujifilm X100V will be available in the colors “silver” and “black” at a price of CHF 1,599.00 (RRP) from the end of February 2020.
